In this high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and 90s pop culture, acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.

The show will perform the first weekend of December at Plein Theater and auditions will open in the coming few months.

We want you!

For this play centered around Dungeons & Dragons, we’re going to need a large team! The show will be directed by Anna Murton alongside assistant director Niamh Merritt and will be led by Jitske Kingma. If you are interested in any of the positions below, please send us an email at contact@cauldronperformingarts.com!

  • Our production assistant is there to pick up tasks from the production lead . These tasks include admin and organizational work and may include booking rehearsal venues and coordinating with all the different members of the team to make sure that everything is running smoothly and deadlines will be met.

  • The assistant stage manager will assist the stage manager during rehearsals and tasks may include keeping track of cast members and ensuring everyone knows when they are called, sending rehearsal reminders, being on book during rehearsals to give actor’s lines, creating a schedule for tech week and shows, and anything else the stage manager needs assistance with.

  • The play features multiple D&D monsters and we need help designing and building them for the show! The monster designer / builder will be in charge of reading through the script, determining what monsters are needed (we know a Beholder and Tiamat are at least), designing the monsters and then building them. You will be given access to a cauldron bank account to purchase materials and you will need to make the monsters as budget friendly as possible. We will most likely need multiple people to be our monster designers and builders.

  • It will be the props master’s job to go through the script, coordinate with the directors, and attend some rehearsals to understand what props are needed and then source those props, whether through finding them, borrowing them, or building them. Please note that since this is a D&D themed show, swords and shields are definitely necessary!

  • It will be the costume designer’s job to go through the script, coordinate with the directors, and attend some rehearsals to understand what costumes are needed for the show. The costume designer will be in charge of collecting cast member sizes and finding or making costumes for every character in the show. The costume designer will have access to a bank account where they will need to stick to a strict budget. Note that this show will need fantasy costumes and armor - but the Cauldron already has quite a bit in our costume department.

  • The hair and makeup designer will be in charge of coordinating with the directors and costume designers and designing hair and makeup for a cohesive look for each character. Please note fantasy hair and makeup will be needed.

  • The set designer will be in charge of going through the script, coordinating with the production team, determining what is possible in the theater, and designing a set on a budget for the show. Ideally, this person would also build or find the set pieces needed as well.

  • The projection designer will be in charge of coordinating with the directors and creating/finding art for projections for the show.

  • The lighting designer will be in charge of going through the script, understanding the director’s vision, and coordinating with the theater to design the lighting for the show.

  • We need someone to design graphics for social media and marketing campaigns to promote the show! Ideally, this would supplement the original artwork and logo we were given. You can also take photos of the actors and create promo material from there - the sky is the limit!
