jazz & blues spotlight

Our event built entirely around musicians.
Stay tuned for the next edition

What is this?

Hosted by Alexander, a passionate jazz musician and charismatic host, this open mic event is designed to create a safe and supportive space for emerging talent to shine.

You can sign up as a musician, as a small band, or as a solo singer, and perform a song on stage, either accompanied by other instruments or with your own backing track. Beginners are very welcome!

The goal of this event is to create a community of musicians, and to give everyone a chance to show off, experiment, and perform in front of a loving audience.

You’re not a performer? Please join us anyways! By attending "Jazz & Blues Spotlight," you not only support the emerging artists but also contribute to a greater cause. All proceeds from the event will go towards The Cauldron production company's upcoming show, "She Kills Monsters."

How does it work?

  • Everyone (audience and performers) will need to buy a ticket to the event. This is so we can cover the costs involved in organizing such an evening.

  • Everyone that signs up to perform as a musician, or a band, or a singer, will have enough time to do one or two songs.

  • Both singers without musicians and musicians without singers are welcome to perform. Please let us know if you’ll be providing a backing track or karaoke link.

  • Broadway musical songs are welcome, as long as they are in the blues and jazz style.

  • Once you’ve bought your ticket, we’ll send an email with more information, and a form you can fill with all the details on which song you want to perform and which instrument you play (if applicable).

FAQs

  • It’s not primarily a karaoke night, as the main focus should be around performances involving musicians. But karaoke singers are welcome, and we have support for playing backing track. There won’t be a beamer to project the lyrics like at our Broadway Karaoke, but we’ll provide a screen where you will be able to read the lyrics.

  • We provide a digital piano, a fender amp (twin reverb), 4 microphones (with speakers). You should bring your own instruments if they are not in this list. Please inform us in advance if you have any specific equipment needs.

  • Yes, there is space for three or four people to work together. Keep in mind that everyone still needs to buy a ticket individually.

If you would like to play with other people but you don’t know anyone, please reach out via our instagram account @alexander.spotlight and we’ll do our best to help you!
